A Seminar Is Organized for Representatives of the Participating States of the Regional Platform

This February 15, the Anti-Corruption Agency officers took part in a seminar on the topic ‘Effective Anti-Corruption Policy. Promoting Compliance with Anti-Corruption Legislation in Business’, organized by the Law Enforcement Academy of Uzbekistan together with the UNODC Regional Office for Central Asia and the British Embassy in Uzbekistan.

The main goal of the event was to increase the knowledge and skills of the participants of the Regional Platform for Fast-tracking UNCAC implementation in Central Asia in the implementation of state policy to combat corruption, as well as more effective use of these skills in the fight against corruption and grey economy.Representatives of anti-corruption agencies of Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan participated in the seminar online.

For reference: The regional platform for fast-tracking UNCAC implementation in Central Asia was launched in November 2023 in order to facilitate more effective implementation of the provisions of the UN Convention against Corruption, strengthening and developing mutual cooperation of the countries of the region in this track.

One of the specific objectives of the platform is to organize a forum for the mutual exchange of information and skills, coordination of priority areas of anti-corruption policy in the region, as well as improving coordination and cooperation mechanisms.

The participating countries signed the Roadmap for fast-tracking UNCAC implementation in Central Asia 2024-2025, and today work is underway to ensure the implementation of the goals and objectives outlined in the Roadmap. This seminar was organized as part of the implementation of these tasks.

The seminar discussed a wide range of important issues, including preventing and combating corruption in the private sector, liability for corruption offenses, strategies for asset recovery and international cooperation, improving legislation in the field, as well as mechanisms for implementing international anti-corruption standards.

Professor Mushtaq Khan and Dr. Pallavi Roy at University of London, who have extensive experience in conducting scientific research on the problems of corruption and grey economy, gave lectures at the seminar.
