In summer 2022, the Anti-Corruption Agency, together with UNDP, the General Prosecutor’s Office and the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held a Joint Contest among civil society institutions and the media in the field of preventing and combating corruption on the topic ‘Involving Civil Society Institutions in the Development and Implementation of Innovations in Preventing and Combating Corruption’. The contest winners have implemented projects using grant funds.


1. NGO Chehra (Ferghana Region)

Project name: ‘Formation of anti-corruption worldview among primary school students’

Work done: in grades 3-4 of 30 primary schools in Toshloq and Qo’shtepa districts of Marghilon, Ferghana Region, activities were carried out aimed at forming an anti-corruption worldview among students:

  • a drawing contest was held on the topic ‘Corruption through my eyes’ and, based on the drawings, collections of media sources were assembled under the slogan ‘Only together we can stop corruption!’;

  • a competition of short essays on the topic ‘My idea of corruption’ was organized, in which 212 students took part, and booklets ‘The Best Essays’ prepared;

  • 65 teachers with involvement of students actively participated with small stage performances in the anti-corruption video contest.

Totals: A collection of media sources was prepared based on a selection of drawings that participated in contest aimed at the wide involvement of young people in the fight against corruption.

2. Human Rights Cultural Center (Tashkent Region)

Project name: ‘Public control in the fight against corruption and the role of the media in it’

Work done: Contests on the topic ‘Corruption is a pest of development’ were organized in Navoi, Bukhara, Tashkent regions. More than 100 people took part in it, 70% of them - young people.

The Center also organized seminars for journalists and bloggers in Navoi, Bukhara and Tashkent regions with the involvement of officials of the Agency, the Prosecutor’s Office, the Ministry of Justice and an international expert from UNDP.

More than 120 media representatives took part in the seminars.

Totals: A large-scale work was carried out with young people, whose anti-corruption initiatives were encouraged on a competitive basis.

3. Promising Generation Republican Social-Information Center, Sirdarya regional branch

Project name: ‘Increasing the activity of youth and women in the fight against corruption among civil society institutions of Sirdarya Region, conducting anti-corruption awareness-building campaign’

Work done: On November 3-5, 2022, within the framework of the project, the Against Corruption School was organized in a children’s camp in Zomin District. It was attended by:

  • representatives of the civil society institutes in Sirdarya Region, NGO activists;

  • active volunteers of regional branches of the Promising Generation Republican Social-Information Center;

  • district (city) leaders of the regional Youth Union and activists of the Guliston State University.

The following work has also been done:

  • articles and abstracts on the fight against corruption were published in local and central newspapers and magazines with an audience of 92,000 people;

  • radio broadcasts were organized with an audience coverage of 880,000 people;

  • in social networks (Telegram, Instagram, Facebook) more than 30 posts about the work performed within the framework of the project were published, reaching an audience of more than 10 thousand people, and advertising posters were also prepared.

Totals: Increased awareness of participants about topical problems in the field of corruption, gender aspects of the fight against corruption, effective tools and mechanisms for fighting corruption.

4. NGO Muloqot (Dialogue) (Tashkent city)

Project name: ‘Anti-corruption alphabet’

Work done: A collection of comics has been prepared on the topic of corruption, its features and types, from bribery to various informal payments, a super-contract, and others.

Totals: A collection of comics prepared on the basis of a differentiated approach to the fight against corruption, that is, in a language accessible to children’s understanding.
