The Anti-Corruption Agency Leadership and WHO Experts Discussed the Cooperation Areas Within a Joint Project

Deputy Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency Umida Tukhtasheva held a meeting May 14 with representatives of the World Health Organization, WHO.

The meeting discussed the issue of launching a project to increase transparency in the fight against corruption in Uzbekistan.

Worth to note that the project is being implemented within the framework of a joint program of the Ishonch Fund, also known as the Uzbekistan Vision 2030 Fund, and the UN (WHO, UNICEF, UNFPA), aimed at significantly reducing preventable maternal and newborn deaths in Uzbekistan.

At the meeting, Umida Tukhtasheva spoke about the measures taken to prevent corruption in the healthcare system of Uzbekistan, the Agency’s implementation of the Corruption-Free Area Project, sociological research in the field, the results of ongoing activities, as well as future goals and objectives.

According to WHO representatives, today the organization aims to take measures to prevent corruption on a new method, and based on this, a project has been developed to increase transparency in the fight against corruption.

During the meeting, the goals and objectives of this project, implementation mechanisms and expected results were presented. It was noted that the main goal of the project is to increase transparency and accountability in order to strengthen the healthcare system in Uzbekistan, in particular, to prevent maternal and newborn deaths.

The parties discussed the Agency’s engagement in the implementation of this project and agreed to continue the dialogue in order to develop specific mechanisms for the implementation of mutual cooperation and identify joint tasks.
