The Issues of Introducing International Standards in Ensuring Public Sector Integrity Discussed
Director of the Anti-Corruption Agency Akmal Burkhanov met with Jesper Johnson, head of Public Sector Integrity Division, the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development, OECD. They discussed the issue of Uzbekistan joining the OECD Public Integrity Indicators.

The OECD Public Integrity Indicators (OECD PII) establish a new benchmark for government resilience to corruption risks and provide guidance on how to strengthen public integrity. All OECD member states have joined this initiative, launched in 2020. The OECD’s first-ever standard indicators on public integrity and anti-corruption have been developed for and with governments, based on the OECD Recommendation of the Council on Public Integrity.

At the meeting, OECD representatives put forward a proposal for Uzbekistan to join this initiative. It was noted that Uzbekistan’s accession to the initiative would become the basis for providing expert and methodological support in regulating issues in this area, as well as the possibility of applying best practices in introducing integrity standards in the public service.
The business trip of the delegation of Uzbekistan to France took place with the support of the ‘Good Governance’ program, implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für International Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development of Germany (BMZ).
